Christmas Cards!

Okay, first let me say that I do know there are those on my list who do not celebrate "Christmas." But the thing is that I do. I receive Hannukah cards from my Jewish friends, and some generic cards from some people, so I just feel that if what I'm sending is a Christmas Card, I ought to call it that.

No, I'm not going to preach at you, but the cards will wish you a happy holiday in my own special way. ^_~

I'm so very tired. Not sleeping well at all (this is usual when the seasons change and my schedule is thrown off by time changes), and I worry too much. Not that I don't have a lot to worry about, but still, it's a weird and panicky time for me.

I just checked my bank account, and I didn't get paid yet. This is not good. I've got my student loan payment and car payment being taken out today, and no paycheck. What does this mean? Can I call the bank and ask them to pass those two things through or hold onto them another day in hopes that I CAN get paid sometime today?

Usually the direct deposit goes through sometime around midnight.

"Oh Shit!" doesn't nearly describe it well enough.

In other news, to make myself happier, I took time off of nano yesterday and wrote a little into another project I have going on. I'll post that later.

Now... next post will be my call for Christmas Cards.

day four of updates in journal:

I'm doing well on my nano - keeping up with the goals, at least. I would like to get another 500-700 words written tonight, but if I can't, it isn't the end of the world.

I will have new buttons and keychains come morning, and that's what's important.

Work is going to be insane for the next few days. I'm honestly not sure how I'll get through it all. Good thing I'm healthy now~!

They Might Be Giants was awesome in concert again.

This time it was the Flood show. They played all of Flood (not in order), including some songs they never play in concert like minimum wage.

Anyway, my ears are ringing and I need to write another hundred words or so before I pass out (if I can).

Okay, this is a lame-o post, but I'm determined to do it. At least a quick update.

Things are crazy busy at work, and I get the feeling that this is going to be a MEGA overtime week. Good for next paycheck, not so good for my mental health.

I'm also doing nano this year. I'm up to about 3850 words so far, so making good progress. I think this whole "write and just let it flow" thing is a great way of getting things done for me.

Of course, I'll need a beta in December. A MEGABETA 'cause it's OMGBAD now. :P Not time to go and edit yet though.

It's super-early in the morning and I'm laying here wondering if I ought to nano this month. I know it's a massive commitment, but I think I need something like that to keep me going on a daily basis. I'm pretty much done with my fest things this year - only have one other to do, and that ought not to be a big deal since it's just a little gift exchange in a small comm.

The thing is, though, I don't have a story idea. I'd have to come up with one from scratch scratch.

My birthday sucked ass (and not in the porny, happy, gay way), but at least I got work done.

I would like to say, however, that I don't give any promises as to quality since I'm flu-infested and drugged.

also, if you're not reading rs_games, you should be! There's some wonderful fic there, lovely art, and a lot of it is safe if you're squicked by the pairings. There's a lot of stuff that's very gennish, and some that's almost entirely a character study of one or the other.

Plus I'm in it, and I actually really love the piece I made for it this year. More than last year's somehow, and I think last year's was one of my best watercolors.

slashpine arrived last night, and we had a lovely dinner along with lovetoseverus. Much HP conversation ensued and it was just too, too fun!

So, we've been chatting all morning about yarns and harry potter stuffs and future plans and plotlines and... yeah, it was just awesome.

Plus, I got to cook breakfast for someone else!! It's been such a long time since I've been able to do that. I love baking and making special meals.

I wish I could go to the slashretreat, but I am sending along little gifties for everyone who is going. ^_^ So, I'll be there in spirit, anyway.

Oh, what was that? You wanted to know the menu? My sekrit recipes that are coveted by the top chefs in the world? The key to the Rana five-star rating in her kitchen?

Okay, if you insist...

Dinner: Shrimp and vegetables over whole wheat pasta.

Vegetable sauce:
4 chopped shallots
4 diced cloves garlic
1 zucchini squash sliced and cut into small chunks
4 diced medium tomatoes
salt to taste
pepper to taste
red pepper flakes to taste
oregano
basil
1/4 cup (small bunch) cilantro
olive oil
2 tbsp butter

Sautee the shallots and garlic in about 4 tbsp olive oil until the shallots fade and are soft. Add spices (red pepper, oregano and dried basil) add zucchini and cook until the zucchini is almost done, then add tomatoes, butter and cilantro. cook for a few minutes until the tomatoes cook down and create a yummy sauce

Shrimp scampishi:
1 lb shrimp
olive oil
5 cloves garlic
salt and pepper

Mince garlic, and sautee in the olive oil, then add salt and pepper and shrimp and cook until shrimp are done.

YAY! It was yummy!! And we had french bread dipped in olive oil, too. mmmmm

Okay, so for breakfast, we had brie and kiwi on french bread, pumpkin pancakes with cranberry apple butter, gingerbread muffins (with cran-apple butter again.. yum), and assam tea!

I totally love cooking for more than just myself and Allen. He's not as adventurous into the land of brie cheese and sautee'd shrimp, so.. yeah.

In other news, I'm drawing on a regular basis again. Not so much into the things I ought to be doing, but anything at this point is better than being stagnant. And I'm going to try to get back into the journals. My life is still super-busy, and I've got a lot of work to do to get the house liveable, but hopefully by the end of next week things will settle down some more.

I'll let you guys know.

I'm Back!!!

Well, as much as I can be at the moment, anyway. I'm in my new house, I have internet service, and although I'm still working insane hours and have tons and tons of work to do, I'm at least around again.

Available by email and journals and... well, yeah, it's nice to be back.

I've missed out on so much, though. I'll start by going back through Snarry Games, I think. And then... oh, I don't know.

Anyway, here's what I've been working on in the mean time. ^_^

CARLOs BARAT comes out of the car and just goes up to those people along the line and starts signing autographs and I start getting all flaily and I have to just push my computer aside and walk away for the pure OMG of it all.

I'm incredibly tired, and today was pretty stressful. Work was harder than usual, with a couple of meetings with our new art liaison. Then when I got home, there was a super-nasty email from my sister basically saying that...

... no, nevermind all it said. But I just can't believe people would say things like that about other people, let alone their sisters.

So, I'm tired. dehydrated, and I really ought to be packing 'cause my mother will be here tomorrow, and I work all day before she gets here. But I just can't.
