I've got some packages ready to send out, but they need some sort of stiff backing. (I don't trust the "do not bend" stamp at the post office). Anyone have any ideas? I don't have much here in the way of cardboard or stiffer boards. :\

The post office has cardboard priority boxes you can get for free. Just bring them home and cut them down to use as backing on the inside of your packages.

Obviously that's not why they have them available. They want you to use their priority services. But it'll work in a pinch.

Oh, good idea! I have a few ready to go (smaller ones), so I'll pick up a couple of the boxes while I'm there.

I'm sure people won't mind waiting an extra day if it means getting their art intact. I have tomorrow off, too. ^_^

Most stores with a lot of volume, especially supermarkets, throw away tons of cardboard boxes every day. When I was moving cross-country, I stopped at stores and restaurants every night for about a week and asked for empty boxes -- and they were all quite happy to give me what they had. I got better results the later I went: I got *piles* at a Wal-Mart around 3am.
